Episode 033 – Six Questions to Ask Yourself To Find Your Dharma (Life Purpose)

Namaste, it’s Sahara Rose, and welcome back to The Highest Self Podcast. A place where we discuss what makes you your soul’s highest evolvement. I’m really excited to share this episode with you because last night was my book launch for “The Idiot’s Guide to Ayurveda,” and it was so amazing seeing so many familiar and new faces. This week as I mentioned in the other podcast episode we’re going to have two episodes. The other one is about diversity, and this one is going to be about the topic of being your highest self.

So you may have seen on my social media and website I am running a very new program that I’m so passionate about called “The Doshas and Dharma” program, and this program is something that I created, straight channeled from source through my heart, that it’s all about helping you find your mission on this planet. And I believe that your dosha, your mind/body constitution, the characteristics that you were born with, tell you exactly what it is that you need to be doing with your life.

I believe the strength that we are all born with are strengths that we need to share to elevate the planet. And the reason that we love doing certain things is because it’s the way the universe is indicating for us that that’s something that we need to be doing. So if you love to sing, probably music needs to be in your life. If you love to build, you need to be working somehow in that industry. If you love to be in touch with nature, that’s something you have to be doing, and it’s part of your dharma, the way that you serve.

So my four-week program is going to be really diving into discovering your life’s purpose. And we’re going to be doing it through four weekly webinars. You’re going to have videos and PDFs from me, and then a weekly live group coaching call, which will be with a group of people—ten people or less—that I’ll be live on the call talking with you guys, asking you questions, you can ask me questions, and it’s just a place to discuss and really get deeper into the practice.

We’re also going to have a private Facebook group. If you guys are in my mind/body balancer’s group, imagine that, but way more jam-packed. I’m going to be really active on it, and it’s a place to share, we have weekly assignments. I’m not going to share what they are, but they’re things that will be really deep-diving in on holding each other accountable and holding space for one another in this amazing and supportive process.

And we’ll have weekly accountable partners, which are your—it’s your partner, it’s your ride or die who you’re going to check in with, make sure you’re on track, doing all your things. So I basically created it as the program that I wish I had about three or four years ago when I was really figuring out what my purpose was. I had, you know, I knew I always loved to read, I loved to write, I loved to speak, but I didn’t know how to make a living off doing that. And I didn’t know if it was even possible, if I was just wishful thinking.

So I was always just not sure if I had to do this as my hobby on the side and do for work what could pay the bills, or if this is the thing that could pay the bills. And now it is, thank god, because my life would not be compete without this. And I want the same for you, because we all have that thing that we are meant to do on this planet, and your work is not supposed to be miserable, it’s supposed to be making you become whole, not making you become a fragmented version of you.

And on top of that, after the four weeks there’s a bonus module. I share my tips on growing your social media following, whether it’s your Instagram, your Facebook, Pinterest. I share about all the social media platforms, but particularly about Instagram because it’s something that I know a lot about. I mean I’ve been Instagramming for, I don’t know, like four or five years. And there are definitely tips and tricks for growing your following, and the reason that I share this is because it’s a huge part of sharing your dharma.

Social media is the tool that we have that allows us to share our voices. I think it’s a very beautiful tool. It’s democracy in action. It gives us all a free and equal chance to share our voices. We no longer have to look at the news, and the televisions, and corporate-backed media to get our news sources and to see what’s going on. We can really curate our own entire experience by following people who inspire us, and who motivate us.

And in this role as content creators, we want to be those people inspiring others and motivating them. So whatever it is, if you’re interested in health and wellness, or if you’re interested in sustainable fashion, or teaching, or mental health, or whatever it is. I’m going to be offering the trips and tricks that I’ve learned along the way to grow my Instagram following so I could use it as my platform for sharing stuff like this.

Like it’s growing your social media audience is not about just having more likes and comments for your ego, but it’s about dropping the ego and sharing consciousness through this system, this divine feminine system that allows it to flow anywhere in all parts of the world. Like how beautiful is that? And I think it’s really time that as a spiritual community we stop resisting social media and see it as this amazing mechanism to raise consciousness.

Because we’ve all chosen to be reincarnated at this time with the internet. Hello? We didn’t choose 1846, we chose today, 2017. And the reason is because our souls wanted to live in this information time so we could use these times and technologies available to us to raise consciousness. Because I truly believe our dharma, above all, is to raise consciousness, to raise the vibration of the world, the energy to make this world a better place.

But we all have different experiences, and doshas, and strengths and weaknesses. And we’re all unique individuals. And the way that you’re going to raise consciousness is different than the way I am, is different the way someone else is going to. We all have our own ways. So the purpose of my program is to help you find your way, your special sauce. And what’s the way that you’re going to show up on this planet and serve? And you’ll realize that all of the obstacles and hardships that you’ve dealt with in the past were brought to you for a reason to learn from them, so you can then shape-shift and teach others to do the same.

Just like I mention a lot that my illness and having digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, weakness. All of these issues were given to me as a gift. I’m so thankful for them all. Because if it wasn’t for that, I would have never discovered Ayurveda, and I would never be here where I am today. Maybe I wouldn’t have even read a single book about nutrition. I learned about Ayurveda because I had no choice to. Because it was the last resort because I was so ill that I had to. And I think every single healer has been in that situation, otherwise you wouldn’t be like, “Hey, let me try to figure out the most complicated thing in the world that no one can agree upon: nutrition.”

So we’ve all come here for a reason. If you’re passionate about mental health, you’ve probably have had mental illness or know someone who’s been affected by it. That’s why you’re passionate about it. We don’t become passionate about things on accidents. Because it’s encoded in us, and we’ve been gifted those experiences so we can change the world.

So in this podcast episode I’m going to give you a little taste of the program, and something that six questions that I came up with that I really think are going to help you figure out your purpose. And again, you might know after these six questions, or it might just begin to open a door. It really just depends where you are on your journey. If this is the first time you’ve really thought about it, it might not suddenly come to you. If you’ve been doing a lot of meditation, a lot of work around this, then it might come to you right now. So it really just depends where you are on this journey, wherever you are, it’s never too late to start. So come where you’re at, and even if these questions you draw a total blank to, that’s okay, you’ve still exposed your mind to a new way of thinking, and that’s how you start, and we’ve all had to start somewhere.

So, I don’t want you to be driving while listening to this. I don’t want you to be on the phone, multitasking, anything. I mean you can be for sure, but you’re not going to get the benefit from this podcast episode that I wish you to. You’ll receive the best benefits from listening to these six questions if you’re seated in a comfortable chair, or on the floor with your spine up vertically straight. You can lie down, as long as you do not fall asleep. When we lie down, we trigger to our parasympathetic nervous system that it’s time to sleep, so it’s very easy to just drift off. And we want to make sure our minds are very active, even though our bodies are relaxed. Because when our minds are active, we’re able to engage with this content and go much deeper than, you know, if we were asleep we wouldn’t be here.

So find a comfortable place to sit. And now’s not the time, and you’re driving, put this on pause, listen to the other episode, and you can come back to this again. So I’ll give you a few breaths right now to come into that comfortable seat. And once you’ve arrived, I invite you to close your eyes. And take a few breaths. Notice your breath. Observe its pace. Feel it expand and retract your chest. Feel it flow through your body. Connect with every inhale and exhale. Slowly lengthening the inhale, pause at the top, and exhale out, slowly releasing the air. And pause at the bottom, inhale in. Filling your ribs up with air. And exhale out. And repeat for a few breaths at your own speed. Trying to slow down the inhales and exhales. Making them as slow and continuous as possible.

Continue with the breath. Continuing breathing. Sinking deeper and deeper into your seat. Releasing any thoughts that come to your mind. Simply observing them and telling them you’re not needed right now. You can go away. Come back another time. Envision a blank space between your eyes. A vast nothingness. Allowing any information and any downloads that wish to be given to you from the universe, from your spirit guides at this time to come through. Calling open the portals between you and the universe. Allowing yourself to be a vessel, a conduit for the sacred information. Beginning a dialogue with your higher self.

I’m going to state six sentences. And when I state them, I would like you to repeat them. And allow your mind to complete the rest of the sentence. Do not use your rationality, what you think should be the right answer, but allow your higher self to channel through. Allow your soul to do the talking. And without controlling, simply surrender and witness anything that comes to thought. And remember that spirit talks to you through your own voice. So even if it seems like you’re just thinking these things, when you’re coming from a clear meditative space like you are now, you are in fact channeling higher source. If you feel like you need more time and meditation, simply put this on pause or rewind back a little bit to get deeper into your meditation. If you feel clear-minded, and ready to receive the messages from your highest self, then I invite you to tune in even deeper into your breath as we begin the journey.

Notice any sensations going through your body. How do you feel?

  • Empowered

  • Excited

  • Peaceful

  • Pure

Allow yourself to come back into your senses. Slowly wiggle your fingers, your toes. Bring awareness back to your body. And when you’re ready, open your eyes. Know that you already have the answers that you’re seeking for within you. Your soul knows its dharma. You are born here with a very specific purpose that only you can fulfill. And by you rising up, stepping across any obstacles that come your way, and saying yes to your higher purpose, not only are you helping yourself, but you’re doing the most selfless service to the whole world. We need your unique gifts that only you can offer. The world will finally become complete when each person rises up and steps up into their highest self to fulfill their dharma.

You know exactly what it is you are meant to do here in this planet. The way that you want to make things better is exactly how you’re going to make things better. So I invite you to use this energy right now and shift it into action, movement, and bring these ideas, this vata into reality, kapha, through the action of pitta movement.

So I honor you for doing this work. It takes a lot of courage to look within. And that’s the reason most people do not do it. And that’s the reason we’re in the situation that we’re in globally. But that’s changing, and the vibration of the world is rising higher and higher than ever because we are doing this work, and we’re spreading it through technology.

So if you feel called to rise, to gain clarity on your purpose, to leave these four weeks with a purpose statement and knowing what your ikigai, the purpose that you were meant to fulfill on this planet that the world needs, and you can make money from. Because all of this has to come together for it to be your purpose. You cannot be missing any of the key elements. Otherwise it just might be a hobby, or a vocation, or a mission. But for it to be our dharma, your higher purpose, your ikigai in Japanese, it has to fulfill all of these areas, which I’ll speak about more in the program.

I hope you walk away from this, regardless if you do the program or not, with clarity, with a vision, and with motivation. And whatever it is that you can do today, whether it’s making a phone call, trying out some websites, doing a few Google searches, do it. Because the world needs more people in the active pursuit of their dreams.
