Practice Yoga? Here’s Why You Need To Know About Ayurveda

My name is Sahara Rose and I’m the best-selling author of Idiot’s Guide to Ayurveda , which teaches you step-by-step on how to integrate ancient Ayurveda into your modern life. Before I became an Ayurveda expert, a yoga class at 12 years old was what led me to this transformational lifestyle. After I healed my own issues with Ayurveda, it became my life goal to modernize its teachings to help people all over the world become their highest selves!

When we practice yoga, we believe we are in tune with ourselves, feel at peace, and have a new sense of awareness; we are our highest selves. What if I told you you can feel like this everyday? You don’t have to go on a yoga retreat or be meditating 24/7. You simply have to bring Ayurveda into your life!

Ayurveda is the sister practice of yoga that originated 5000 years ago in India. They are both ways of becoming your highest self. Practicing Ayurveda will help you make the best use of your yoga practice. Ayurveda teaches a system of how to become your highest self through healing yourself physically and mentally.

Ayurveda pays a high importance to the gut, and therefore what you consume, as this is believed to be the root of all illness. Additionally, the practice emphasizes knowing your mind-body type – this is referred to as your Dosha. take my free quiz here to discover your Dosha! As we all are unique in this manner, our paths to optimal health and wellbeing will be different, especially the best foods to consume. It also highlights tailoring your diet according to our surroundings and the different states we experience – for 100+ plant-based gluten-free Ayurvedic recipes that can be tailored to any Dosha, environment, and state, check out my book Eat Feel Fresh! Ayurveda is to healing what Yoga is to spiritual awareness.

In fact, Ayurveda is recommended by yoga because it heals the body temple helping you reach spiritual enlightenment. Also, Yoga is recommended in Ayurveda to calm the mind and exercise the body. They both complement each other leading you to your highest self.

Ayurveda also provides you practical advice on how to live your everyday life in sync with your body’s innate rhythm. It provides guidance on what your morning routine should be, which foods you should consume, how often you should eat, how to cook your food, what time you should sleep, and practices you should include in your daily routine. This will not only help you in your yoga practice, but also help you in all areas of your life. It will help you create balance in every area of your life, helping you become your highest self. Depending on our body types, we are susceptible to different health and wellness issues.

Ayurveda teaches us how to prevent these, look out for these signs, and fix them. Most of us go to yoga for a 90 minute escape of reality where we can be in a meditative state only focusing on our body and this helps us feel calm, flexible, and relaxed. Ayurveda will help alleviate your problems in everyday life to the extent where you don’t even need an escape anymore, but can simply practice Yoga to help you further connect with yourself!

Although Yoga is the new trend at the moment, its sister science Ayurveda is not quite as popular. This is because it is easier to attend a couple of yoga classes a week than it is to adapt to a new lifestyle. As more people practice yoga more often, they begin to realize the benefits they reap from committing to this practice. Then, they start wondering what else is out there that can bring them closer to the lightness, the connection, and the bliss of the mind-body connection. If you are ready to make the commitment to take your yoga practice one step further, Ayurveda is waiting for you!
