all about pitta

Our life on this planet has a purpose, star child. We were made for a divine purpose or, as I like to call it, “dharma”. Your destiny was determined at the time of your very conception, and the cosmos has equipped you with the right kind of characteristics and energy to fulfill your dharma

All human beings are made of three unique, spiritual energies, which we call “doshas”. These doshas exist in a delicate balance within our body, and depending on how dominant they may be, they dictate things like our personality, influence our health and determine our energy levels, and even affect the quality of our sleep as well!

Imagine being born with such purpose that the universe itself aligns your energies to help you live the life you were meant to have! The world has always tried to guide you towards a spiritual path, sun being, and now, you’re ready to get started.

If you’d like to know your dosha, head over to my free dosha quiz!

I created this video to answer your questions about what to do if you are a Pitta (fire) Dosha (mind-body type.)

Pitta Dosha Meaning

The pitta
dosha is a potent combination of fire and water.

Made of very volatile elements, the pitta dosha is the dosha that consumes all. It controls delicate processes like our digestion, the release of hormones into our bloodstream, the formation of digestive enzymes, and so much more.

Characterized in particular by the fire it breathes into our system, you can spot a pitta dosha simply because they’re often the warmest people in a room (quite literally too, their body temperatures are higher!).

The pitta dosha is also in charge of vital body functions like our eyesight and purifying our blood. It also serves to keep our skin healthy and is what creates a mental drive to attain our goals.

Do you see how important it is? It’s the dosha that drives you to take action!

Do I Have a Pitta Imbalance?

All of us have these three
doshas within us. And a pitta imbalance is indeed something to be worried about. An imbalance in the doshas can lead to both physical and mental ailments.

When there is very little pitta in the body, it can lead to:

  1. Indigestion
  2. A slow metabolism
  3. Anemia
  4. Vision problems
  5. Inability to focus
  6. Inability to plan
  7. Impulsive, reckless decision-making

When pitta is in excess, it causes:

  1. Hot flashes
  2. Drastic mood swings
  3. Insomnia
  4. Premature graying
  5. Ulcers
  6. Diarrhea
  7. Very controlling, perfectionist behavior

Sounds scary, right? But how do we identify a pitta imbalance before it’s too late?

Signs and symptoms of a Pitta imbalance

Luckily, we can catch onto a pitta imbalance by staying in touch with our mind and body.
When you notice these changes, you might be having an imbalance.

1. A very aggressive personality change

If you or your loved one suddenly turns critical of every minute thing and is endlessly irritated by it, it may be a sign of pitta imbalance!

2. Excessive anger

As energy rooted in fire, when you find yourself making cutting, cruel remarks to others, and getting angry easily, that’s the pitta dosha affecting your mind.

3. Intense jealousy

Another huge sign is a growing sense of dissatisfaction and jealousy, even towards those you love!

4. Physical signs like:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Low blood sugar
  • Sensitivity to spicy or sour foods
  • Acid reflux
  • Skin breakouts
  • Sour body odor
  • Excessive sweating, etc.

Balancing out the pitta
dosha is possible! If you find yourself facing these ailments, you need to get to work on balancing the dosha immediately.

Reasons for Imbalance

Before we head to the ways to balance pitta, watch this video to understand the causes for Pitta imbalance

Ways to balance the Pitta Imbalance

There are many ways to bring a pitta
dosha to balance again. A few things to try include:

1. Do not skip meals

As tempted as you are to keep going, you need to make sure to eat regularly throughout the day. The pitta dosha will turn to your mind and body for consumption when it does not get enough food.

2. Step into the moonlight

In order to keep your chakras cool, spend some time in the moonlight at least once a month. It’ll cool the fierceness of the pitta dosha.

3. Keep your mind and body cool

DO NOT stay in warm or humid environments or wear clothing that makes you feel too warm. As a pitta, you need to stay away from heat.

4. Create peaceful environments around you

I cannot emphasize this enough! Pitta doshas, carve out your own peaceful nooks at work and home so that you can remain sane. They need peaceful environments to balance out the wildfire blazing within.

5. Set a routine time to have your meals

Have your meals at fixed times so that your body gets used to knowing when it will receive food. Controlling the consumptive nature of pitta dosha is vital!

6. Choose your meals very carefully

A Few Tips for Pittas

While food intake can help with pitta imbalances to a great extent, it is just as important to also work on making lifestyle changes that are more suited to each
dosha!

1. Avoid arguments and conflicts

As easy as it is to give in to anger, let go. You do not need to be harsh or sarcastic. Wherever possible, just avoid aggressive situations.

2. Learn breathing exercises to cool down your body

Breathing techniques can be very handy when you get stuck in hot places, or when you need to calm your mind.

3. Learn to surrender control — you don’t have to do everything by yourself

I know you’re a perfectionist. Letting go isn’t easy, but trust the people around you to complete things. Give them a chance to help you as much as you’ve helped them.

4. Have a daily exercise regimen

You need to get all that explosive energy out somewhere! Try these fun exercises that are suited for your dosha.

5. Remember to take time off for fun activities

“All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” Make sure you rest just as hard as you hustle!

6. Meditate to sweet, soothing, and soft music

As you sit down to relax or plan your day, play soothing music to bring peace to the fire within your mind.

7. Take care of your health — both physical and mental

If your body is weak, how can you fulfill your dharma? The same goes for the mind too! Take care of your health and wellbeing.

8. Take cold showers

In order to cool down at the end of the long day, skip that hot shower! Take a cold shower, trust me. Your body will be revitalized.

9. Step outside in nature

As always, what greater balancer than nature? Spend time among the beautiful green spaces of our earth every now and then!

I wish you the very best on your spiritual journey.
