Sahara’s Beetroot Dusted Chocolate Truffles (Raw Vegan, Paleo, Ketogenic, Sugar-Free)

The greatest love you will ever have is the love you have with yourself.

Many of us wonder why we haven’t found the one. We haven’t realized that we are the one. We are the ones we are going to wake up with and fall asleep with every day for the rest of our lives. We are the ones who will stand by us through sickness and wellness. We cannot depend on another person to fulfill every void in our lives. We must find wholeness in ourselves.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to practice self-love. One of the ultimate acts of self-love is making yourself nutritious and delicious food.

  • If food is not healthy, then you really aren’t loving yourself but rather harming yourself in the long-term.
  • If food is not tasty, then you are succumbing yourself to torture.

Neither of those things are very self-loving. But healthy chocolate truffles are.

Making food is the ultimate act of self-love.

  • When we get our hands in the kitchen, we are involved in the process of creative process and activating four of our five senses; sight, touch, smell and of course taste.
  • We utilize our less-used creative right brain and finally get a chance to work with our hands, something we rarely do as adults.
  • We further value all of the work and effort it went putting into it and as a result, eat it slower and more mindfully.
  • We know exactly what went into our meal and can buy ingredients of the highest qualities, unlike most restaurants.
  • We can also cater the meal to our own tastes, dietary restrictions and preferences, giving us full control of our bodies and experiences..
  • We are actively choosing and designing what we choose to nourish our bodies with, which eventually becomes us.

Allow yourself to indulge in something that makes you feel as good after the meal as it does before and during.

Valentine’s Day is synonymous with chocolate which is why I created these red raw vegan truffles sprinkled with beet root powder to give it a gorgeous hue and antioxidant boost. These truffles are sugar-free, sweetened with Lakanto monk fruit sweetener, which has no impact on your blood sugar levels thus does not attribute to weight-gain or feed Candida. To order Lakanto, visit their website here and use my code SAHARA for 20% off your order. (I recommend their sweeteners, maple syrup, chocolate and matcha!)

These truffles are also ketogenic, meaning they help your body get into a state of ketosis where it is burning it’s own fat for fuel instead of carbs. The reason your body does this is because when you eat less than 20-30 grams of carbs per day and instead amp up your fat intake, your body starts using fat for energy, since it isn’t getting in any carbs. As a result, you’ll see much faster results in body-fat reduction and more muscular definition.

Who knew truffles could be fat-burning?

Unlike many other truffle recipes, these are totally raw and vegan, meaning there is no dairy, sugar, gluten, chemicals, soy or any other unnatural, chemical or animal-based ingredients.

This recipe is:

  • Completely sugar-free (no maple syrup, honey, agave, coconut nectar, dates)
  • Plant-based
  • Totally raw (no cooking involved)
  • High in antioxidants
  • Paleo
  • Ketogenic
  • Rich in healthy fats
  • Easy to store in the freezer for months on end (if you can keep them that long)

They also make the perfect gift to give to friends. Just put them in a plastic bag with a pretty bow and you’re officially the nicest friend ever! The dramatic red color of the beets truly makes them stand out and your friends will never stop asking you for the recipe (or more likely for you to just make them more.)

So now that you’re curious, here is the recipe from me to you, with a whole lot of love!

Tada! Now you have the most passionate, plant-based truffles the world has ever seen. No one will be able to “beet” it! (Haha.)
